Fishing in Búzios is a feast...
Surrounded by ocean on almost all sides, Búzios is a fisherman's paradise. By the way, the city was originated by a group of fishermen, and still maintains its' tradition, legends and activities.
The most common fish found in the waters are anchovies, groupers, jacks, sharks, and snappers.
Some of the best places for fishing are the Âncora and Gravatás Islands (around 30 minutes by boat from the coast), the rocky shores of João Fernandinho Beach all the way to Ponta do Criminoso, the rocky shores of Olho de Boi Beach (accessible by Brava Beach), the rocky shores of Forno Beach and Ponta da Ferradurinha (between Ferradura and Geribá Beaches). At Rasa, Manguinhos and Tucuns Beaches, fishing is done from the sand, using long fishing rods.
A good option is to hire a fishing boat from the fishermen colony. The service includes the boat, a captain who knows the local fishermen, equipment and the promise of catching 20 fish per hour.
